Friday Follies

Hello Again

As promised I'm posting an update with JulieAnn & my projects following a very happy Friday off we shared.

Firstly, big congratulations to JulieAnn who finished her Mariners quilt (a Chris Jurd design) and recently also got The Prince Quilt by Susan Smith together.

Close-ups of Works Underway

The Prince Quilt top Finished

We had a lovely day together, enjoying a glass of bubbles with lunch (my risotto) and a movie as well. Girl on a Train was the selection as we've both read the book - I liked the movie and believe it kept true to the story.

I continued working on a project which I have now given a name: Eyton Hall. I decided to look back into my ancestry for a name and this came from Eyton upon the Weald Moors (UK) where numerous family members originated from & lived in times long past.

I love toiles and wanted a project to use them without losing their beauty...

Layout with frames (a couple missed but now complete)

Row 1; you can see how they will look

A close-up on the start of Row 2.
I am loving this sew much; after reading another blog yesterday I came across the use of downloadable hexagon graph paper. I've now found some & will spend some time drawing the completed design up so I have an idea of what I'm doing, as currently its all in my head!

Over the Christmas Break I set to task on getting Jane Austeen (yes that's correct) a Di Ford design together. I chose this pattern to once again utilize a mix of beautiful fabrics to their best. It came together after lots of pinning, pressing, sewing.... repeat. There is still a border to go on, but I don't have a fabric for that as yet. I am super happy with the end result.

And to finish off on the Project News is a quilt I've made for my granddaughters First Birthday (which is next week). I'll be heading off for a coastal visit this weekend to celebrate both her Birthday & Christening.

This is my little Treasure at Christmas taken with her Mim (that's me)

This is the Jane McGrath Rose
The petal formation is exquisite & the centre = Totally Fascinating!!

And Angus - he's been suffering in the heat but holding up well. Here he was enjoying being outside with me in a cooler moment.

Well that's about it for this post; troubles with loading photos held me up and we are now in February!

So til next time, stay cool (or warm depending on where you are)

Love

Home = Happy Place

Hello Friends
Two days before Christmas I moved into what will be my family home for many years to come with my Partner, my 23 year old Son and the fluffy one; Angus.
The process of making it our home has brought so much joy & peace to my heart.
And how wonderful it feels to have Me back & inspired to sew again

Quilts on Display

Angus has made himself very much at home, here on Breast of Friends
and here on Simply Red

I've had Baskets for You (Sue Daly) quilted & now awaits for binding & a label.
I plan for this to go in the Master Bedroom

The Prince Quilt (Susan Smith) has also been to the quilters & is all finished.
I love this quilt so much

(and so does Angus)
The Prince's backing; he needed something special

Showing off on the spare bed

And my happiest place......

Will try to update QWE a little more frequently this year (and must get JA back on to share her accomplishments). Stitching continues on Irish Circles (Karen Cunningham), more pictures to share next time

Until then
Happy Stitching

As Time Ticks By....

Wow, it's been so long since I've posted I'd almost forgotten how!

Not much stitching has been happening in my camp, as my camp has been going through some major changes. Life changes which I can only say continue to be a challenge.

Slowly though, little pieces at a time, I'm finding my way back to doing what I love. Seeing what everyone else is doing & achieving, none more than my favourite accomplice JulieAnn, provides so much inspiration.

So for today, just a couple of pictorial updates.

Firstly, French Mosaic, a Karen Cunningham design, is getting closer to having the centre done.

Once done its just a matter of a couple of borders....so hopefully not too far away.

Then, onto baskets, this the first of MANY!!

And, at long last Mariners got its binding on & is proudly hanging.

Happy stitching everyone, til next time

Love

One More off the List

Well its done! The top at least, however this means my quilting list is growing and several projects that are not quite Finished (our F word).

I hope you like my version of Mariners Madness, a Chris Jurd design. As you can see I didn't go with the smaller compasses in the corners, but am happy with the end result.

And I wanted to share with you William Morris Garden now hanging. This is my 4 Block version of Michele Hill's 9 Block design. I am so very happy with this one.

Til Next Time

Just a Snippet

Time....goes way too quick....seriously lacking....I just can't get enough of it.

Hence no update for over a month!

JulieAnn is on a roll & achieving great things. I will let her share her excitement
with you....

I decided to get back into my Mariners quilt which we started in a workshop with
 Chris Jurd last year.

Centre Compass

In progress

Wedges Ready for the Border

I haven't decided what to do in the corners as yet - will I or won't I attempt
those little "compasses".
It really is so close to being done; hopefully I can share with you soon.

til next time
