Coming Up Roses

Hi Friends

After being on a roll and keeping up with everything, Life as it often does gets in the way. Things have turned around and at the moment, we are on a good path and here's hoping to it continuing.

A few photo's to share; yesterday I completed the centre and final block for Expression of Morris. The second pic shows what the layout will be. I'm going to use the Quilt as You Go method for quilting and it also needs a border fabric. That will wait a little while as I've a new project I want to start and am also trying to get a few Christmas projects done. Christmas... hard to believe isn't it!

Now I've called this post Coming up Roses for a reason! My little garden is blooming nicely, below are a few for your enjoyment. 

 Fairytale Magic is new for this Year; she is exquisite.

 The Lady of Shallot, a David Austin Rose is a pure delight

William Morris... another David Austin does not dissapoint!

Dark Desire; new last year. She is an absolute beauty

 Extase has been a long time favourite; the scent is delicious

My Magnolia Little Gem has such large blooms this year and the busy are absolutely loving it. 

The tree is a mass of buds. 

I recently had a birthday and received these shoes as a gift. Aren't they gorgeous!

I'm blessed to have the most beautiful people in my life

Morris Continues

Hi Everyone

2 more blocks completed for Expression of Morris. I've not been terribly thrilled with some of the fabric choices (it was a BOM) and felt the blocks required some light.

I've now commenced tracing the remainder of Blocks, as you can see from the picture below... I have a lot of work ahead of me!

I do not know the owner of this actual quilt ~ I located it using Google.

I hope they don't mind me using this to show you the project in its entirety.

Time: Where Art Thou!

Hi All

Just a little post to say hello because its been ages!! My time gets away and it would seem not slowing down anytime soon.

Stitching progress has been slow; but progress none the less.

Eyton Hall has been joined & papers removed. I'm now onto making more hexies for the border section - which will also be all hexagons. Yes I really am doing that!!

Torrington Park the Quiltmania Mystery Quilt by Michelle Yeo has been in the works too, I'm way behind with only 3 blocks completed. We were extremely fortunate to meet Michelle in Sydney.

 

On Sunday I decided it was time to get onto something I'd purchased from Cutting Cloth at the Sydney Quilt Show (our last blog post). Making this beautiful pillow case with crocheted edge; the fabric is divine and the crochet edge the sweetest. How lovely for the Pfaff to get a change from mending!

Cotton Crochet Edge - a new skill for me

Next on the agenda is a couple of little Christmas Stitcheries - I'm trying to gear up to being in the Spirit. Something that has been missing the last few years.

JulieAnn & I are having a sewing weekend in November; managing to go away without leaving town! I can't wait; we'll definitely post an update.

Sew Good

Hi Friends

 

Here we are Marching on through the year. Time is zipping by but JulieAnn & I tried our best to slow it down by having a couple of days getting away from it all at our favourite little place in Tumut, NSW Australia.

This is the view from our Cabin; you can see why we love it here!

JulieAnn has been working on her Sarah's Revival,

a design by the late Sue Garman.

There are so many components to this quilt, I felt JA achieved greatly by getting it to the joining stage

Just so you know, the whole quilt is needle-turn applique - just gorgeous

I'd previously traced all pieces of Little Sparrow (Susan Smith design) onto freezer paper so spent the weekend organising fabrics and getting them cut & glued into place ready for stitching. The Centre is complete, along with top & lower large blocks; still quite a lot of work ahead of me.....
